What is the best general purpose pre emergent weed preventer?
If you want to go the more organic route, try corn meal gluten. Look for a product called Cockle-Doodle Doo.
But you are probably too late to apply pre-emergent weed preventer. You'll need to wait until the fall. And then reapply in the spring. A good rule of thumb is to apply the pre-emergent weed killer at the same time forsythia starts to bloom in your area. The ground temperature needed for forsythia to bloom is the same as for crabgrass seed to start germinating.
