How to drill through a wall without the proper length of the drill bit?
Here is my dilemma. I need to drill thorugh a 2 feet thick concrete wall(with pebbles in it) but I only have a 1,2 feet sds drill bit(my hammer is a makita hr2450). The nearest tool rental is pretty far. I thought of drilling first from the inside then from the outside but theres only one reference point which is the natural gas pipe. So is there any way for the two holes(inside and outside) to meet? How do I find the height reference point?
A carpenters level is all you need. Draw a level line on the wall inside and outside, just make sure you use the same , either the top or the bottom of the pipe for your reference point. Then measure over to a point that is in line vertically with where you want the hole and draw a plumb line up and down and measure to where you want the hole, do the same thing both inside and outside. Then just make sure you hold the drill at right angles to the wall both up and down and sideways and the holes should come very close to lining up.
